PENSACOLA, Fla. –
The UWF Men's Basketball returns to Pensacola for their first home games of the year, facing Montevallo and Auburn Montgomery on Saturday and Monday at the UWF Field House.

Tip-off against the Falcons is set for 4 PM on Saturday while the matchup with the Warhawks will be at 7:30 PM on Monday night.

UWF (3-9, 1-7 in the Gulf South Conference), is coming off a 82-73 loss on Tuesday night at Valdosta State.  West Florida led for most of the contest, but faltered late as VSU closed the game on a 9-0 run to sink the Argos into a tie for 12th in the league standings.  Myles Ruth registered a season-high 17 points and five rebounds while forward, Sano Rutatika, recorded a career-high 13 points and eight rebounds.

On the year, UWF is shooting 42 percent from the field, while holding opponents to a 46 percent shooting mark from the field.  West Florida is also scoring nearly 73 points per contest while allowing 77.6 points per game.  At least four different Argos have registered at least 10 steals on the year, led by Xavier Washington and Ruth who have 12 apiece.

Nkoma Getting It Done Inside: Channick Nkoma has been a big presence inside for the Argos, with him leading the team in field goal percentage (.550), placing second in total rebounds (66) and rebounds per contest (6).  Channick's field goal percentage is the sixth highest in the league, while he also ranks inside the top 20 in rebounds per game.  He has scored at least six points in four of the last five games, while also bringing down at least four rebounds in those games.

Ruth Playing Well In Backcourt: Ruth, in an increased role, has excelled as a guard for UWF.  Since December 15th, Myles has played over in 20 minutes in all three contests with double digits in scoring in two of the three games.  Against Union, Ruth poured in 14 points, three rebounds and a season-high four steals.  Myles once again showed well against Valdosta State on Tuesday, with a season in points and rebounds as he earned his first start of the year.

Brown's Recent Impact: Eli Brown, a guard from Paducah, Kentucky, has been on a tear recently.  Brown has scored at least 11 points in three of his last four contests.  Eli had back-to-back games with 17 points, knocking down at least four three-pointers against West Georgia and Union, before returning after the holiday break to score 11 points and notch two assists in the game against Valdosta State in a season-high 30 minutes.

About Montevallo: The Falcons, led by coach Anthony Komara in his second season, come into the matchup at 4-9 overall and 3-6 in league play, putting them at 10th in the GSC standings.  UM averages nearly 83 points per contest but has struggled defensively, giving up over 92 points per game as they allow opponents to shoot a league-high 50 percent from the field.

Jaylen Curry, the league's 12th leading scorer, leads a well-balanced attack with a team-high 15.8 points per game.  Cameron Glover is just behind him at 14.7 points per night, with Jack Henderson also averaging double-figures in scoring with 10.8 points per game.  The Falcons rely on the three-point ball, recording a league best 405 attempts from long range, while their 127 makes are the second-most in the GSC.  The 405 attempts are fourth most in the country, while they rank 22nd in the nation in makes.

Series History: Dating back to 2001, the Argonauts are 10-22 against the Falcons, but UWF holds a 8-6 advantage in the UWF Field House.  Last season, the Argonauts won 102-79 at home over UM, with Channick Nkoma registering an efficient 10 point-performance in 10 minutes off the bench.

About AUM: The Warhawks, led by coach Michael Cheney, come into Monday's game at 5-8 overall and 2-7 in league action, placing them 11th in the GSC.  Auburn Montgomery is tied for 11th in the league, with UWF, for scoring as they average 72.8 points per contest, while the Warhawks are eighth best in the GSC on defense, allowing 76.4 points per night.

Jalen Gaston and Jalil Robinson lead the way offensively for AUM, averaging 14.5 and 13.8 points, respectively with Malachi Rhodes adding an additional 12.8 points per contest.  Robinson and Deven Tucker are tough defenders, with the duo accounting for a combined 49 steals while it's tough to score inside against AUM with Rhodes and Jelal Williams combining for 23 of the team's 37 blocked shots.

Series History: Dating back to 2005, UWF is 10-7 against the Warhawks, which includes a 4-4 record at the field house.

Weekend Promotions: Saturday's game is Camp Day, sponsored by Key Insurance with a tv giveaway. Monday is back to school bash, with free t-shirts given to the first 100 UWF students with a valid student ID.
