PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team and Montevallo Falcons finish a competitive matchup in a 1-1 draw at home, Wednesday night. The Argonauts remain the one-seed in the GSC standings with Montevallo following one point behind.

With five minutes remaining in the match, the Argos (10-1-3, 8-0-2 GSC) lost the lead that they held for 80 minutes. The Falcons (8-3-2, 7-2-1 GSC) drew a foul in the 18-yard box and was awarded a penalty kick to force a tie.

The Argos grabbed an early lead in the 10
th minute.
Mya Swinton received the ball in the middle and hit a nice one-touch pass to
Ahnalie Layman who was running down the line. Layman attacked hit a cross in the box to
Kaytlyn Larsen. Larsen, who's strong position is in the defense, hit a one-touch shot into the top left corner. This is Larsen's first goal of the season.

A fast-paced game continued throughout the first half. The team's possession was about even and Montevallo has a 5-4 edge in shots. Only one shot on goal was recorded in the opening 45 minutes.

As the clock rolled down, the aggression raised. 16 fouls were recorded – UWF was called for 12.

In the 85
th minute, a foul in the box allowed the Falcons to tie the game.

The Argos will conclude regular season on the road at Alabama Huntsville and West Alabama Nov. 1 and Nov. 3.

UWF is guaranteed a home GSC Championship quarterfinal match. Time and opponent is TBD.
