Green tabs third straight double-double

Argos defeat Golden Tigers 71-65

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Bella Green tabs her third straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in West Florida's 71-65 win over Tuskegee on Wednesday.
 
The Argos move to a 4-0 record to start the season after the midweek win. Haidyn Pitsch led UWF again with a 20-point game with a perfect game behind the line, while Delaney Trushel was behind her with 12 points.
 
Tuskegee took the early lead to start off the first quarter, extending it to seven points with 6:33 left in the quarter. The Argos worked to close the gap but were unable to before time ran out to finish the first quarter with Tuskegee in the lead 18-13.
 
The second quarter saw a close game with Tuskegee up by two points with 6:02 until the half. There wasn't another basket until a good free throw by Kamille Clark put the Argos only down by one with 3:13 left. Pitsch gave West Florida the first with a good 3-pointer with just under three minutes left in the half. Clark sunk two more shots behind the line to put the Argos up by five heading into the locker room for the second half.
 
West Florida outshot Tuskegee in the third quarter, putting up 21 points to their 15, extending their lead to a game high 14 points close to the 5-minute mark. Tuskegee put up the last two baskets of the third quarter, making it 51-40 in favor of the Argos.
 
Tuskegee put up a solid fight in the final quarter, adding 25 points while West Florida put up 20. They cut the Argos lead down to only six points with 4:50 left in the game, but West Florida quickly fought back to extend the lead to 10 points. Although Tuskegee put up the final two baskets of the game, West Florida continued victorious on their campaign.
 
The Argonauts totaled 42 rebounds and shot 33.3 percent with 17 second chance points.
 
The Golden Tigers were led offensively by Brittney Bolin with 23 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds.
 
The Argos will return to action on November 26 for their home opener against Columbus State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in UWF Field House.
