PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Argos fell to Columbus State in their home opener on Tuesday night, while starter
Bella Green led the team with 16 points and went 8-of-12 from the field.
West Florida led going into the locker room after the first half with a nine-point lead over the Lady Cougars. Columbus State came out with the momentum to start the second half and outscored the Argos in the final quarters.
Rylie Stephens posted 8 rebounds to lead the team alongside her 11 points.
Delaney Trushel scored 11 points and
Haidyn Pitsch added 12 points to round out the leading scorer for the Argos.
UWF outshot Columbus State from beyond the arc at 44-percent. The Lady Cougars outrebounded the Argos 38-33 and earned eight second chance points on ten offensive boards.
The Lady Cougars were led offensively by Letiya Reeves with 20 points.
The Argos will return to action on November 30 against Columbus State. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. in UWF Field House.
