PENSACOLA, Fla. – Softball is just a few months away, and the schedule for the 40
th season of UWF softball has officially been revealed.
Head Coach Ashleigh McLean enters her seventh season in the lead for the Argos with an overall record of 192-90. She is joined by assistant coach
Taylor Baynes, who is in his eighth combined year with the Argos since 2016 after a one-year stint with Samford in 2022.
Last season, the Argos finished 36-16 with a 22-8 GSC record. They broke multiple hitting records, including breaking the single-season team home runs record with 89.
The Argos open their season against Barry University at the UWF Softball Complex on Jan. 31 in a Friday doubleheader, before heading to Gulf Shores for the Gulf Coast Invitational, where they will face Saint Leo, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, and Central Oklahoma.
In the second weekend of February, the Argos hit the road to go to Columbus, GA for a couple games against Tusculum and Columbus State.
Gulf South Conference play opens Feb. 14, with the Montevallo Falcons coming to the Fork first in a Friday-Saturday series. LeMoyne-Owen College visits that following Monday for another home doubleheader out of conference.
Between Feb. 21-26, UWF plays five road games, including a weekend GSC series at Christian Brothers and a midweek doubleheader against Spring Hill in Mobile. They return home to end the month of February against Delta State.
March begins with a home series with GSC newcomer Trevecca Nazarene, followed by eight straight road games at UAH, Union, and a doubleheader with Florida Southern in Lakeland. The month ends with another home series against AUM.
The Argos open April at Lee, and then host eight home games with West Alabama, Spring Hill, and Mississippi College coming to Pensacola. The final series of the regular season is on the road at Valdosta State starting Friday, April 25.
The GSC Tournament is once again in Oxford, AL at Choccolocco Park from May 1-3. NCAA Regionals follow the next week, from May 8-10, with Super Regional play falling May 15-16. The NCAA DII national Championship is May 19-24 in Chattanooga, TN.
