VALDOSTA, Ga. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team rebounded from yesterday to defeat Fort Valley State, 72-61 on Saturday in the Gulf South Conference/Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Challenge.
The Argos wasted no time to jump out to a big lead. Five minutes into the game UWF took a double-digit lead. Fort Valley was only able to score two points in the first six minutes of the game. A 3-pointer by
Eli Brown with 14 minutes remaining in the first half gave UWF a 14 point lead.
The largest lead of the game for UWF was 18 points and the Argos never trailed in the contest.
Four different Argos scored 10 or more points. Leading the way was senior guard
Shay Davis with 13 points.
Le'Tarion White scored 12 points and both
Elijah Wyche and
Xavier Glenn had 10 points.
UWF shot 45-percent from the floor and connected on 7-of-16 from long range.
Fort Valley was led by Marcus Scott with 11 points.
Next up for UWF (1-1) is a road game on Wednesday at Georgia Southwestern. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
