UWF Falls To AUM 76-63 On The Road

Tyashia Bostick eclipsed the 1,300-point plateau

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UWF women's basketball team was unable to overcome a couple of poor shooting quarters as they fell to Auburn Montgomery, 76-63, at the AUM Gymnasium on Thursday.

The loss drops UWF (13-12, 10-11 Gulf South) into a tie for eighth place in the league standings with three games remaining. The Argos are in a group of five teams within a half-game of each other for places five through nine. The top eight teams make the postseason tournament.

Brooke Kane led UWF with 16 points while adding six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Tyashia Bostick had nine points as she surpassed the 1,300-point mark in her college career. Jaden Langford finished with seven points, six rebounds and four assists.

Claire Sutherland-Case had five blocked shots and moved into sixth place in UWF single-season history with 54.

AUM jumped out to a 12-5 lead before UWF pulled to within a point on a pair of Bostick 3-pointers before AUM scored the next 14 points. The Argos trimmed the deficit to seven midway through the second quarter but the Warhawks closed the half on a 10-2 run to take a 45-30 lead into the locker room.

The Argos got within 11 twice in the second half, including with 3:00 left in the game, but the Warhawks answered as they rode the quickness of guards Allasha Dudley and Tian Addison, both of whom finished with 26 and 24 points, respectively.

AUM (18-8, 16-6) shot 42 percent and controlled the boards with a 47-33 edge.

UWF continues its tour through Alabama on Saturday with a pivotal contest at Montevallo (13-12, 11-11). Tip-off at the Central State Bank Arena is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
