PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Florida Softball (14-12, 3-6) is back home in the friendly confines of the UWF Softball Complex this weekend to host the Christian Brothers Buccaneers (13-11, 7-5) for another GSC series.
The Argos dominate in the all-time head-to-head record, having swept Christian Brothers 3-0 in their last six series. UWF is 38-2 overall, and currently rides a 22-game win streak against the Lady Bucs. UWF last met the Lady Bucs in Memphis, TN in 2022, where the Argos swept the series 3-0.
UWF looks to rebound in GSC play after coming off a 1-2 series loss at No. 10 Mississippi College. UWF lost a tight 7-8 heartbreaker to open the series and rebounded with a dominant 13-0 run rule, but dropped the final game 2-6 in Clinton.

UWF is just over halfway through their 2024 regular season and the Argos are only five home runs from breaking their season record of 51 total set in 2021. Currently, the Argos' 47 homers on the season ranks fourth in program history. Their 53 doubles continue to lead the GSC.
Emma Brice and
Jessie Baughan each own 11 home runs this season, placing them in a tie for second nationally along with several other players in DII softball. Brice earned an NFCA Selected Top Performance honor for being among the top 20 performers in DII softball last weekend.
The sophomore put up a combined five runs, a double, nine RBI and four home runs in five games including a grand slam against No. 10 Mississippi College in game two of the series.

Saturday's doubleheader will be UWF's Strike Out Cancer Day and Sunday's single game will be a Green Out/ Sunday Funday.
Scouting Christian Brothers
The Lady Bucs are fifth in the GSC standings after a 2-1 series win over Union this past weekend, putting their conference record at 7-5. All three of their games against the Bulldogs were decided by one run, with Christian Brothers coming back from being down 0-5 in game three to win 6-5 and take the series.
Kylie Burks has been a force for the Lady Bucs, batting .500 in their Union series and recording three runs, two home runs and two RBI. She also leads the team with six home runs and is first among the team's main rotation with a .774 slugging percentage. Her 1.296 OPS ranks no. 11 in the GSC.
The Lady Bucs get solid production from players across their lineup. Kate Candies leads the team with 19 RBI and five doubles, Kiera Coulon leads with 22 runs, and Summer Alexander leads with 28 hits and a .406 overall batting average.
Christian Brothers' pitching unit features the current GSC leader in strikeouts in Emily Schooler (6-4). Schooler's 82 strikeouts rank her no. 19 nationally and her 60 innings pitched is no. 6 in the conference. Haylee Alberson owns the lowest ERA on the team at a 2.52 and contributes 30 strikeouts to the team total. Gabby Dickerson has also started 11 games for the Lady Bucs and has 43 strikeouts. Christian Brothers has the second most total strikeouts in the GSC with 155.
