#16 Argos Leave Bucs Feeling Green

Jadon Fryman hit for a cycle in the series finale

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- No. 16 UWF baseball got their fourth conference series win after taking the twinbill Saturday afternoon at home. The Argos have completed two series sweeps over GSC opponents.
 
UWF opened with a close 9-7 win and brought the series home with a whopping 17-1 victory.
 
The Argos recorded double digit hits in each game as well as double digit RBI in the final game.
 
Jadon Fryman hit for a cycle in the series finale to uplift the team. "This is just the second cycle I have seen hit since I have coached here," said head coach Mike Jeffcoat. In the final game, Fryman went 4-for-4 at the plate and led with four RBI.
 
Christian Brothers got on the board first in the opening inning with three runs but that didn't rattle the Argos. The response was four runs scored in the bottom half that began with a Darrien McDowell two RBI home run. Cade Easterbrook and Brett Rowell tallied an RBI each in the first to bring the score to 4-3 in UWF's favor.
 
Trent Jeffcoat led off the second inning with a single. The offensive threat, McDowell, stepped up to the plate and hit an RBI double. McDowell then scored the Argos sixth run of the game off a sacrifice fly by Tyler Dowdy.
 
McDowell extended the lead to 7-3 in the fourth inning. He hit his second home run of the game and ninth on the season. In just three at bats for the junior, McDowell tallied three hits and four RBI.
 
The Bucs shorten the gap with a pair of runs in the sixth to bring the score to 7-5. McDowell yet again hit a two RBI double that brought the lead to four-run gap. McDowell finished with a single game season-high of five hits and six RBI.
 
Christian Brothers racked up two more runs in the seventh inning but was held of from there on out. They were held to no hits in the final two innings.
 
Jacob Heath started on the mound for the third time this season and first time at home. He threw three no-hitter innings in six innings pitched. Heath held the Bucs to three earned runs on six hits. He recorded five strikeouts and improved to 4-2.
 
In game two, UWF scored 15 straight runs in four innings. Starting pitcher Kade Manderscheid held the Bucs to seven hits in comparison to UWF's whopping 18. Manderscheid remains undefeated on the mound, improving to 5-0. He pitched a complete game of seven innings and threw four strikeouts.
 
The Argos opened the game with six runs on three hits. In back-to-back-to-back plays, the Argos quickly scored 1, 2, 3 runs. Fryman followed up with a triple and was brought in the score the fourth run by an RBI single from Preston Moore. The fifth and sixth run were scored off walks.
 
Fryman extended the lead to 7-neal in the second inning with a solo home run. The outfielder saw the chances of hitting a cycle approaching closer and closer.
 
The Argos continued to dance and put up five runs on seven hits in the third inning. Fryman and Parker Tubb got an RBI single each with Jackson Grabsky tallying an impressive three RBI double.
 
Now at a 12-0 lead heading into the fourth inning, the Argos didn't stop. They put up three more runs to score in four consecutive innings. Grabsky added his fourth RBI of the game to his name off a sacrifice fly.
 
In the fourth inning, Jadon Fryman stepped up to the plate and made history for himself. He sailed a shot to left field that resulted in a double to achieve the cycle. His outfield double also resulted in two RBI that extended the Argo lead to 15-0.
 
CBU scored a lone run on an infield single in the sixth inning. Easterbrook for the Argos stepped into the box for the first time of the game in the bottom of the sixth. He hit a two RBI homer that brought the lead to its final score of 17-1.
 
11 Argonauts recorded a hit with eight players tallying an RBI. Fryman and Grabsky recorded four RBI each to lead the team.
 
The Argos will have a quick turnaround and play Georgia Southwestern in a pair of midweek games on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20. Tuesday's game will begin at 5:00 p.m. and be played at the Blue Wahoos Stadium. UWF will make their way back to Jim Spooner Field for Wednesday's two o'clock game.
