PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team dropped Tuesday's non-conference game against Georgia Southwestern, 12-1.

The Argos (17-7) was stopped to their season low of four hits.
Dean Hotz led with two and
Trent Jeffcoat and
Jackson Grabsky followed with one apiece. The last time the Argos were held to four hits was against Florida Southern in the season opener.

The Canes (20-7) scored runs in the first, second and fourth frame before the Argos recorded their first hit in the sixth. Sitting at a 10-0 deficit,
Jackson Grabsky hit an RBI single that brought UWF's lone run. He sent Hotz home who led off the inning with a double.

Jeffcoat grabbed a hit and Hotz recorded his second of the game in the final inning but no runs fell through.

Georgia Southwestern put up a pair of runs in the eighth that brought the game to a close.

Caiden Peeples made his appearance on the mound and led the squad with 3.2 innings pitched. This was his fifth appearance on the season. His latest came against another Peach Belt Conference opponent, Columbus State. Peeples threw a season-high four strikeouts. He held the Canes to one hit through his opening 2.1 frames.

The Argos had two great double plays, one including a stop at home. In the seventh inning with a runner on third, the Canes shot the ball out to right field. Hotz was there to make the catch and threw a perfect ball at home to stop the run and get the out.

The Argos will be back at Jim Spooner Field tomorrow (March 20) at 2:00 p.m. to finish the series with Georgia Southwestern.
