McDowell Sets UWF Career Home Run Record in 7-2 Victory Over Badgers

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- Darrien McDowell hit a pair of home runs in Wednesday night's home game against Spring Hill to break the UWF career home run record. He hit number 11 and 12 on the season to bring his career home run total to 26.
 
UWF (19-10) grabbed a 7-2 win over Spring Hill (19-12) in a non-conference matchup.
 
Darrien McDowell opened the game with a two-run homer in the first frame to grab a quick 2-0 lead.
 
Spring Hill put up a pair of runs on a two-RBI single in the second inning to tie the game. McDowell responded with a record-breaking two-run homer in the third inning to bring the game back to a two-run difference. In just two at bats, McDowell totaled four RBI for two homers. He went two-for-three at the plate.
 
Parker Tubb extended the lead to 5-2 in the fourth inning by an RBI single.
 
Riley Parker and Zack Stokes put up RBI hits in the eighth inning. They entered the game in the fifth inning and gained the Argos sixth and seventh run of the night.
 
Caidan Peeples recorded the start on the mound. He pitched four innings to uplift the team in his outing. Chase Stanhope entered in the fifth frame and got the win. In just one inning pitch, he threw three strikeouts and allowed no runs on no hits.

Tyler Dowdy followed up with a strong outing of three innings. The right handed pitcher kept the Badgers scoreless while he was present on the mound and allowed a lone hit. Dowdy went three up in the sixth and seventh frame and faced 10 batters total. 
 
McDowell and Jackson Grabsky led the team with two hits each.
 
The Argos have a couple day rest before returning to conference play. UWF will stay home to take on Shorter in a three game series from Friday to Saturday (March 29-30).
