PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team split Saturday's twinbill. The Argos matched a program record of 23 runs scored in game one but followed with a devastating loss.

UWF (23-14, 14-7 GSC) put up 23 runs while shutting out the Bulldogs (14-20, 8-13 GSC). The Argos finished it in seven innings to outhit their opponent, 19-4.
Trent Jeffcoat led the team, going 4-for-4 at the plate.
Preston Moore racked up a season-high six RBI in two hits that included a grand slam.
Dean Hotz followed Moore with a season-high five RBI after going 3-for-3.

UWF scored in five of six offensive innings.

Darrien McDowell began the scoring with an RBI double after Jeffcoat opened the offensive stats with a walk. McDowell advanced to third thanks to a sacrifice bunt by
Jackson Grabsky. Hotz brought him home on an outfield RBI single to quickly sit at a 2-0 lead.

UWF followed up with a six run on six hit second inning.
Cade Easterbrook began the inning with a solo home run. It was his third of the season. A pair of hits occurred before Hotz shot an RBI single that brought in the fourth run. Now at loaded bases, Moore sailed a grand slam that cleared the bases for four RBI. His homer extended the lead to 8-0 in just two innings.

The Argos continued to pounce and put up six runs in the third inning, Jeffcoat, McDowell and Grabsky led off with three walks. The Bulldogs threw a fourth consecutive walk that gave an RBI to
Jadon Fryman. Hotz stepped up to the plate in the next at bat. He cleared the bases with an RBI double to extend the lead, 12-0. Tubb and Jeffcoat hit back-to-back singles to cap the inning with an additional two runs on the board.

A pair of runs were scoring in the fifth inning to enter in their final offensive appearance with a 16-0 advantage.

The Argos concluded with their best inning of the day – seven runs on five hits. Seven RBI was given to seven different Argonaut player to tie the program record of 23 runs.

Jacob Heath got the win on the mound in six innings pitched. He allowed four runs and threw five strikeouts.

In the series finale, the game went scoreless for the opening three frames with Union having a 3-2 edge in hits. UWF grabbed the first lead of the game in the fourth inning.
Parker Tubb hit an RBI ground out followed by a Jeffcoat two RBI double. Moore extended the lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly.

The Bulldogs were held to no runs on five hits as they entered the seventh inning. Three back-to-back-to-back hits and an Argos error cut the lead in half.

The Bulldogs had runners on second and third with one out. The Bulldogs fired a hit that brought in the tying-game run.

Now at 4-4, the Bulldogs loaded the bases.
Kade Manderscheid struck out the batter for two outs but the ball was dropped by the catcher. This allowed runners to seek base. Coming from third to home, Eli Snelson and
Kade Manderscheid saw a foot race home. Snelson just beat the tag that was attempted by Manderscheid that brought in the lead-scoring run. The Argos went three down in the bottom half of the seventh to finish with a one-run deficit.

Each team finished with eight hits apiece and was led by Jeffcoat again with two.

Despite receiving his first season loss on the mound, Manderscheid ties his season-high of eight strikeouts.
