MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Bella Green led the Argos with a season-high 20 points in their Thursday night win over Auburn University at Montgomery.
Delaney Trushel was behind her with 13 points and six rebounds, shooting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Haidyn Pitsch joined Trushel in going 3-of-4, adding 11 points to the UWF total.
The Argos outscored the Warhawks in the first and final quarters, tying their scores in the third quarter.
AUM scored first to start the game off but did not hold a lead again until 4:03 left in the first quarter and only up by one.
Carmen Jones landed a three-pointer to put the Argos back up and
Bella Stone backed that up with another shot beyond the arc to push the lead to five. The Warhawks were able to add three more points to finish the first quarter with UWF up 15-13.
Before the half, West Florida took their largest lead of the game at six points but fell behind as AUM was able to capture the lead headed into the break. The third quarter saw a lot of close play to start and the Warhawks took a 10-point lead over the Argos with 3:28 left in the quarter. West Florida fought back and was able to head into the final quarter down by only two.
Green tied things up quick with a layup to make it 44-44 and with 8:23 left in the game, she sunk a jumper and added the and-one to put West Florida back on top. The Argos continued the fight and did not let their lead go for the rest of the game, pushing to a game high 12-point lead and eventually taking the game 69-59.
UWF added 22 points off turnovers by the Warhawks and shot 50-percent from the field.
The Warhawks were led offensively by Allasha Dudley with 23 points. Danielle Luckey recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
The Argos will head to Montevallo on Saturday, January 18 with tip-off set for 4:00 PM.
