PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team hung tough with the No. 4 team in the nation, Alabama Huntsville, but came up short, falling 78-71.
Three players scored double figures for the Argos on Saturday with
Elijah Wyche leading the way with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists and a steal.
Xavier Glenn added 14 points, 4 rebounds and an assist and
Zondrick Garrett had 10 points, 2 assists, and a rebound, block and steal.
Midway through the first half the Argos used an 11-0 run to take a four-point lead. After the lead then changed hands three times, UAH reclaimed the lead with 7:12 remaining in the half and never relinquished it for the rest of the game.
UWF won the turnover battle forcing the Chargers into 17 turnovers leading to 13 points. The Argos had just nine turnovers in the game.
West Florida (5-13, 4-8 GSC) will play its rescheduled game against West Alabama on Monday at 6 p.m. in the UWF Fieldhouse.
