PENSACOLA, Fla. – An early lead slipped away from the University of West Florida men's basketball team on Thursday evening, dropping a Gulf South Conference game to Christian Brothers, 59-55.
UWF held the Buccaneers to just five points in the first 12 minutes of the game allowing the Argos to build a 25-5 lead during that span. CBU shot 2-of-18 (11%) from the field and had five turnovers during that time.
At the half, UWF led 32-16.
The visitors flipped roles in the second half as the Argos struggled to find its offense. CBU cut the large deficit to single digits less than three minutes into the second half. The lead switched hands for the first time in the game with 7:13 remaining and the Buccaneers took the lead for good with 3:21 left.
After a 45-percent shooting performance in the first half, the Argos went 7-of-25 (28%) in the second half.
Shay Davis led the Argos with 15 points. Ja'Ron Briggs added 10 points.
