PENSACOLA, FLA. – The No. 16 University of West Florida volleyball team extended its conference winning streak with a 3-1 victory over Lee on Friday night at the UWF Field House. The Argonauts dropped the opening set but stormed back to win the next three (22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-17), improving to 16-3 overall and a perfect 9-0 in Gulf South Conference play.
After a slow start in the first frame, UWF found its rhythm offensively, hitting .241 on the night and steadily increasing efficiency as the match went on, including a dominant .361 hitting percentage in the third set.
Kumara Flanagain led all players with 12 kills and added three blocks, while
Aniston Cochran was close behind with 10 kills at a .375 mark.
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri chipped in seven kills and a pair of solo blocks, and junior
Emily Breazeale provided a spark off the bench with nine kills.
Junior setter
Gabi Moulton orchestrated the offense with 40 assists to go along with three service aces, nine digs, and two blocks.
Maddie Mire anchored the back row with a match-high 24 digs, and
Ana Colon added six kills and five digs. As a team, West Florida out-blocked the Lady Flames 9-7 and totaled six service aces to Lee's five.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, October 18, when they will face Trevecca Nazarene in the 19
