PENSACOLA, FLA. – West Florida volleyball extended its perfect start in Gulf South Conference play with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-19, 25-22) over Alabama Huntsville on Thursday night at the UWF Field House.
The Argonauts (11-3, 4-0) showcased a balanced offensive attack, hitting .233 as a team while holding the Chargers (10-4, 2-3) to a .134 clip. Four different UWF hitters recorded double-digit points in the victory.
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri was highly efficient on the pin, posting 11 kills on a .421 hitting percentage.
Ana Colon posted 15 kills, and
Kumara Flanagain contributing 12 kills on .375 hitting.
Emily Breazeale provided a late spark off the bench, adding three kills on five swings. Setter
Gabi Moulton directed the offense with 47 assists, adding nine digs and two blocks for a strong all-around performance.
Defensively,
Maddie Mire anchored the back row with a match-high 28 digs with a stellar 14 digs in the first set.
Camryn Brooks chipped in 11 digs of her own. At the net, Vongkasemsiri led with five blocks as UWF out-blocked UAH 12-8.
The Argonauts controlled the opening two sets behind consistent serving and timely kills before fending off a late UAH push in the third. UWF finished with 52 kills to UAH's 35 and committed seven fewer errors in the winning effort.
