Pensacola, Fla. - On a rainy night at home, the University of West Florida men's soccer team wasted no time in taking control, cruising to a 4-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene behind a strong first-half hat trick from forward
Kendrick Hernandez.
The Argos got on the board early, striking in just the 3rd minute when
Rafael Esteves threaded a perfect through ball to
Kendrick Hernandez, who calmly slotted it past the keeper to open the scoring.Â
Hernandez struck again in the 17th minute, this time thanks to a sharp assist from
Rodrigo Bacci, putting the Argos up 2-0. Just five minutes later, Hernandez completed his hat trick in just 22 minutes, confidently converting a penalty kick to give UWF a 3-0 lead and all but seal the match before halftime.
But the Argos weren't finished.
In the 35th minute, Callum Edwards added to the tally, finishing off a well-placed assist from Ismael Castillo to extend the lead to 4-0. That would prove to be the final goal of the match, as the Argos used the second half to showcase their ball control and defensive composure, dominating possession and keeping Trevecca Nazarene at bay.
Despite the wet conditions, UWF's attack was sharp and decisive, while the defense held firm for the shutout.
The Argos now look ahead to their next challenge as they travel to face Auburn Montgomery on October 10th at 7:30 p.m.Â
