In a gritty Gulf South Conference championship match, the University of West Florida men's soccer team powered past Mississippi College to secure the title with a composed and dominant 2–0 victory.
The first half saw chances develop but no breakthroughs for either side. While both teams struggled to find the finishing touch, the Argonauts controlled much of the tempo, firing off 10 shots compared to Mississippi College's four. Their pressure kept the Choctaws on the back foot, even if the scoreboard remained unchanged at halftime.
UWF emerged from the break with clear intent, playing faster, sharper, and hungrier for the opening goal. Their persistence finally paid off in the 79th minute. Nikolas Rodriguez slipped a great through ball into the box for Adrian Rodriguez, who curled a brilliant shot into the top corner from just 10 yards out. The strike electrified the Argos' sideline and shifted full momentum their way.
Only four minutes later, UWF doubled the lead. In the 83rd minute, Kendrick Hernandez found himself in the right place at the right post, tapping home a loose ball after a deflection off a Mississippi College defender. The goal sealed the win and allowed the Argonauts to see out the final minutes with confidence.
Following the match, four Argonauts earned spots on the 2025 GSC Men's Soccer All-Tournament Team: Joao Ribero, Callum Edwards, and Nikolas Rodriguez, with Adrian Rodriguez deservedly honored as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Behind clinical finishing, relentless pressure, and standout individual performances, UWF lifted the GSC trophy—another proud chapter in Argonauts soccer history.
The Argos will play next in the NCAA tournament on November 21st.
