MORROW, Ga. –
Anthony Igiede scored 22 points to lead the University of West Florida men's basketball team to a 101-71 win over Clayton State on Friday night in their first game of the Clayton State Classic.
Igiede was a perfect 5-of-5 from 3-point range in the game as his hot shooting helped the Argos break the century scoring mark for the first time since 2022. UWF is also now 3-0 for the first time since the 2021-2022 season.
Six minutes into the game the Argos grabbed a double-digit lead and never relented. The largest lead of the game was 33 points, taken just a few minutes into the second half.
UWF was dominant on the boards gathering 50 rebounds, including 18 offensive boards. Clayton State grabbed just 20 rebounds. Some of the disparity was due to the efficient shooting by the Argos who shot over 55-percent from the field and 60-percent from beyond the arc.
15 players got minutes with 12 players scoring at least two points.
In addition to Igiede,
Tim Hall Jr,
Aric Demings, and
Andrew Sineway all score in double figures.
UWF will take on Columbus State in the second game of the classic on Saturday at noon before traveling to Puerto Rico where the team will take on UPR Rio Piedras and UPR Mayaguez.
