PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida volleyball team punched its ticket to the Gulf South Conference Championship match with a thrilling, gritty five-set victory over Lee (25–17, 17–25, 23–25, 25–21, 21–19) Saturday afternoon at the UWF Field House. With the win, the Argonauts improve to 26–5 overall and advance to their 11th straight GSC title appearance.
UWF's offense came alive in the biggest moments, finishing with 67 kills on the afternoon. Junior outside hitter
Emily Breazeale led the offense with a team-high 16 kills and 10 digs, while
Kumara Flanagain added 14 kills and five blocks. Middle blocker
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri provided a major spark, hitting .286 with 13 kills and a team-best six blocks.
Junior setter
Gabi Moulton delivered a standout, all-around effort, finishing with 46 assists, 18 digs, and four blocks, while also contributing nine kills on a .250 hitting percentage.
Maddie Mire delivered a defensive masterclass with a match-high 28 digs, helping the Argos slow down Lee throughout the fourth and fifth sets.
While energetic throughout the match's entirety, the final frame was nothing short of exhilarating. With the Field House crowd roaring through every rally, the fifth set featured 11 ties and four lead changes, showcasing the postseason intensity both teams brought to the floor. UWF hit an impressive .289 in the set, stepping up in pressure-filled moments. With the score knotted repeatedly, each side fought to stay alive. The Argos finally created separation with a pivotal kill from Flanagain, followed by a game-sealing ace from Brezeale to send West Florida to Sunday's championship match in unforgettable fashion.
West Florida now looks to secure its eighth straight GSC Championship and its 14th in program history. The Argos will face either Trevecca Nazarene or UAH on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the GSC Championship match. Live stats and broadcast links will be available on GoArgos.com.
