PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida volleyball team claimed the 2025 Gulf South Conference Championship Sunday afternoon with a four-set victory over Trevecca Nazarene (25–16, 24–26, 25–9, 25–10) at the UWF Field House. The Argonauts improved to 27–5 overall and secured their 14
th program GSC title with one of their most complete performances of the season.
After splitting the first two sets, West Florida seized full control of the match with a blistering offensive surge, hitting .438 in the third set and .405 in the fourth while holding the Trojans to negative efficiency in both frames. For the afternoon, UWF hit .345 as a team and out-killed Trevecca 64–37.
Emily Breazeale delivered a championship-level performance, leading all players with 19 kills on a .432 hitting percentage to go along with seven digs and three blocks for a match-high 20.5 points.
Ana Colon hammered 14 kills on .370 efficiency while contributing three block assists.
Kumara Flanagain added 10 kills and four block assists, and
Aniston Cochran turned in a highly efficient 9-kill outing at .438.
Setter Gabi Moulton controlled the match wire-to-wire with 49 assists, 12 digs, and two block assists, guiding the Argonauts to one of their sharpest offensive displays of the season. Defensively, Brighton Ferguson posted a match-high 22 digs, while
Maddie Mire added 17 more to help hold the Trojans to just a .078 hitting percentage.
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri chipped in seven kills and a team-high four block assists as UWF totaled 14 blocks on the day.
UWF controlled the opening set with a balanced attack but narrowly dropped the second after 16 tie scores and six lead changes. From there, the Argonauts erupted, dominating sets three and four with suffocating defense, overwhelming net play, and a relentless offensive rhythm that Trevecca could not match.
Following the match, Brezeale, Mire, and Moulton were all named to the GSC All-Tournament Team, with Moulton named the GSC Tournament MVP.
With the conference victory, the Argos earned a bid into the NCAA Division II South Regional. UWF will find out who they will be facing tomorrow on the NCAA Selection Show. The Show is set to take place on NCAA.com at 6:30 p.m. Coverage and scheduling announcements will be available on GoArgos.com.
