TAMPA, Fla. – In the most thrilling match of their postseason run thus far, the University of West Florida volleyball team outlasted Palm Beach Atlantic in a five-set battle, winning 3–2 (25–20, 18–25, 29–27, 28–30, 20–18) on Thursday evening at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. The victory pushes the Argonauts to 28–5 on the year and sends to the second round of the NCAA South Region bracket.
UWF's offense was explosive throughout the night, with four Argonauts finishing in double-digit kills. Kumara Flanagain led the way with 18 kills on a .361 hitting percentage, delivering multiple clutch swings deep in the match.
Aniston Cochran posted with 13 kills and three blocks, and
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri added 11 kills and a team-high 12.5 points. Freshman
Ana Colon played one of her strongest matches of the season, posting 13 kills and 12 digs.
Setter Gabi Moulton orchestrated the offense masterfully, recording a career-high 62 assists, hitting .421 herself with eight kills, and adding 16 digs in an exceptional all-around performance. Her 62 assists mark the ninth 60-assist game ever by an Argonaut and lands her sixth on the all-time individual match-high list for assists.
Defensively, UWF stacked up 85 digs as a team, highlighted by strong efforts from Maddie Mire (15 digs), Cochran, and Colon. The Argos also held Palm Beach Atlantic to just .226 or lower in three of the five sets.
The final frame showcased the grit that has defined this UWF squad all season. Down the stretch in the fifth, the Argos prevailed 20–18 behind timely kills from Flanagain and Cochran, along with key defensive stops that sealed the comeback.
UWF returns to action tomorrow against No. 1 Tampa as they continue their push for a South Region Championship. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Live stats will be available on GoArgos.com.
