The Argos showed heart, and grit in a tough 78–85 loss to Columbus State. What began as a challenging night turned into a thrilling battle, as the Argos fought their way back from a 20-point deficit in the first half.
Columbus State came out firing early, putting UWF on its heels and building a lead before halftime. But the second half was a different story entirely.
Led by a dominant performance from Amelia Bell, who posted a standout 21 points and 11 rebounds, the Argos stormed out of the locker room with renewed energy. Bell's rebounding and inside scoring set the tone, while Janai Jordan added 13 hard-earned points, helping UWF chip away at the lead. By the third quarter, the Argos had cut the deficit to just seven, turning the game into an intense back-and-forth showdown.
Entering the fourth quarter, the momentum belonged to UWF. Both teams traded baskets in a tight final frame, neither willing to give up. With under two minutes remaining, the Argos trailed by seven, pushing the pace and creating scoring opportunities in hopes of completing the comeback.
Despite their relentless effort and a surge, UWF ultimately came up just short as the final whistle sounded.
Though the scoreboard favored Columbus State, the Argos' fight, second-half surge, and standout performances demonstrated the team's resilience and potential moving forward. The Argos will play next on December 4th at 5:30 p.m. at home.
