PENSACOLA, Fla. – Head coach
Melissa Wolter earned her 600
th career win as the University of West Florida defeated Mississippi College in three sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-17) at UWF Field House. With the win, the Argonauts improved to 22–5 overall and 15–2 in Gulf South Conference play.
UWF hit an impressive .301 as a team while holding the Choctaws to just .051. Senior middle
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri paced the Argonauts with nine kills on .412 hitting, while
Aniston Cochran added seven kills, six blocks, and 11 total points in a balanced performance at the net, providing a big spark on the floor.
Setter
Gabi Moulton directed the offense efficiently with 27 assists, surpassing 3,000 career assists. She also chipped in five kills on .500 hitting.
Emily Breazeale and
Kumara Flanagain each tallied five and six kills, respectively, combining for seven total blocks and 11 digs. On defense,
Brighton Ferguson and
Maddie Mire anchored the back row with 13 digs apiece, helping UWF limit Mississippi College's rhythm throughout the match.
The Argonauts dominated every statistical category, finishing with 39 kills, 18 block assists, and 60 digs, while never trailing for long stretches in any set. After a competitive opening stretch, West Florida pulled away midway through the first frame and never looked back, winning the next two sets with efficient hitting and tough serving.
The Argonauts will return home for one final home match of the regular season on Saturday. UWF will face West Alabama at 2:00 p.m. in the annual Senior Day match. Senior Argos will be recognized prior to the first serve. Live stats will be available on GoArgos.com.
