LAKELAND. Fla. – UWF men's cross country capped of their season at the NCAA DII South Regionals Saturday morning, finishing 13
thout of 18 teams in attendance.
The Argos and their competitors each fielded seven runners for the men's 10K, the first race of that distance all season for UWF.
Grant Chastain finished as the fastest runner for the Argos. The sophomore placed 33
rd out of 128 runners at the meet and set a personal record of 33:07.8.
"This race felt like a battle rather than an XC race. With the tougher course and warm temps, it was just a battle to see who could hold up under the conditions," head coach
Caleb Carmichael said. "The times weren't great across the entire field, but I think we competed well. Grant had another great day and just missed an all-region spot by 8 spots. After last year's 15th place finish at regionals, we are happy to see an improvement to 13th."
The Argos finished in front of several GSC teams, including Trevecca Nazarene, Montevallo, and Valdosta State. They also finished ahead of south region competitors in Saint Leo and Barry. Lee, Florida Southern, and Embry-Riddle were the top three schools at the meet.
