PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF men's basketball team made a second half run at No. 8 ranked UAH in the Gulf South Conference opener, but the Argos comeback attempt came up short as they fell to the Chargers, 87-80.
UWF was able to cut the UAH lead to just five points early in the second half following a 7-0 run, but that was the closest the Argos got. The team took another run at cutting the lead late in the game with a minute remaining as an
Anthony Igiede 3-pointer cut the deficit to eight points, but time wasn't on the Argos side.
Igiede led the scoring effort for UWF during a balanced scoring night for the team. The redshirt junior had 19 points and 9 rebounds.
Aric Demings added 14 points,
Tim Hall Jr 13 points and
Elijah Wyche 12 points.
The Argos struggled from 3-point range connecting on only 6-of-23 attempts.
UWF (6-2, 0-1 GSC) will host West Alabama on Saturday at 4 p.m.
