PENSACOLA, Fla. - The UWF women's basketball team beat West Alabama, 67-61 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers set the tone early going on a 10-2 run from the opening whistle. After the five minute mark the Argos switched the tempo and held the Tigers to three points the rest of the quarter to take a 17-15 lead into the second quarter.
UWF went 44-percent from the three point line with Janai Jordan going 3-3 from behind the arc.
Jordan and Isabel Grimes were both the leading scorers for the Argonauts dropping 17 points a piece.
In the third quarter the Argos capitalized on their momentum scoring 22 points. This energy brought them on top heading into the fourth quarter where Jordan found 12 of her 17 points in the second half.
In addition to Grimes and Jordan, the Argos were able to find two other double digit scores with Avery O'Connor scoring 13 points and Finely Kennedy with 10 points.
UWF will play next Saturday December 13th hosting Valdosta State at 2 p.m. for the holiday toy drive.
