PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team had its highest scoring performance of the season, but it wasn't enough to knock off Valdosta State as the Argos lost 104-96.
Four players hit double figures in scoring with
Shay Davis leading the way with 24 points. Davis drilled six 3-pointers on the night and was 9-of-16 from the field.
Elijah Wyche scored 16,
Zondrick Garrett scored 14 and
Kyle McElroy had 11.
It was a tightly contested first half. Valdosta held a 51-50 lead at the break. But the Blazers opened things up in the second half with its hot shooting. The visitors shot over 50-percent from three in the second half with seven triples.
UWF cut a 20-point deficit down to single digits in the waning seconds of the game after a pair of three pointers late in regulation.
The Argos (5-15, 4-10 GSC) will be on the road for the next couple of games. The team will travel to Trevecca Nazarene for a game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
