West Florida Falls to No. 14 Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – The University of West Florida Argonauts (16-9, 12-7 GSC) could not overcome a slow first half, falling to No. 14 Union University (23-3, 18-1 GSC) 96-70 on Thursday night at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.

West Florida struggled offensively early, scoring just nine points in the second quarter, allowing Union to take a commanding 63-24 lead into halftime. Despite a strong third-quarter push in which the Argos outscored Union 25-21, the deficit was too great to overcome.

Bella Green led UWF with 25 points on an efficient 12-of-20 shooting while adding six rebounds and three steals. Kamille Clark provided a spark off the bench, contributing 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Rylie Stephens added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Union controlled the tempo throughout the game, forcing 28 turnovers and capitalizing with 43 points off turnovers. The Lady Bulldogs' depth proved to be a difference-maker as well.

Despite the loss, UWF showed resilience in the second half, outscoring Union 46-33 over the final 20 minutes. However, Union's early dominance and defensive pressure ultimately secured the victory.

West Florida will look to bounce back against Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tenn. on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
