MEMPHIS, Tenn. - No. 2 UWF men's tennis (7-0, 2-0 GSC) registered its second straight 3-0 weekend with a 6-1 win over No. 24 Southern Arkansas (1-3) on Sunday for its fourth ranked win of the season.
Diego Duran and
Sebastian Rondon, the No. 2 doubles team in the ITA DII National Preseason Doubles Rankings, upped their record to 4-2 on the season with an opening 6-3 win at the top of the lineup over Tim Fischer and Mathys Pinoit. Their only setbacks have come to top doubles pairings of top five opponents Flagler and Barry in the ITA Indoor Championship.
Miguel Cabrera and
Albin Ekenros sealed the opening point in the same length of time one court down 6-3 over Jinsei Tajima and Lluc Pasqual.
Cabrera sealed an undefeated match with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Fischer at the top of the singles lineup. One court down, Rondon put his team up 3-0 with his 6-3, 6-4 victory against Pinoit. Ekenros clinched the result for UWF in the first three-set matchup of the day, defeating Tajima 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Sebastian Sotelo won 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 on court three against David Wallechner. Frode Neumann took the lone point of the day for the Muleriders as he topped Duran 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Tomas Leston then pulled out a tight two-frame matchup to get the point back for the Argos as he came out victorious over Uwe Diehl 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
The Argos stay on the road for their next contest, traveling to Cleveland, Miss., to take on Delta State on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 10 am.
