Swim and Dive Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Recognition

Argonauts Achieve Status for 21st Straight Semester, 27 of 30 Athletes Earn 3.0 GPA

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Florida Swimming and Diving program was named a 2024-25 Fall Scholar All-America team by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday for their achievements in the classroom and pool so far this season.

CSCAA executive director Samantha Barany said of the honor, "This recognition honors programs that achieve the highest standards in the classroom while representing their institution in the pool. Coach Philip Kraus, their staff, and the entire team have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to success both academically and athletically, setting a standard of excellence we can all be proud of."

Teams receiving this honor must have an average GPA of 3.0 or above for the fall. 781 teams from 459 institutions, totaling 19,209 student-athletes in all, were named to the team. UWF was one of 654 programs that earned a minimum 3.30 GPA to qualify for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings. The Argonauts easily reached that benchmark, earning a 3.51 collective GPA for the fall semester.

"This is the 21st consecutive semester that our team has earned Scholar All-American status. 27 of our 30 athletes had above a 3.0, with eight achieving Dean's list and 10 on the Presidents list. All 10 of them had a 4.0," said Coach Phil Kraus on the accomplishment. "We are all proud of the athletes on our team.  Their approach in the pool, on the boards and in the classroom represent our motto "Building Champions for Life" at a high level.  We strive to continually represent what it is to be an Argo and look forward to challenging ourselves to pursue excellence."

"This is a great recognition for our Swim and Dive team for the effort they put into being good students and for their dedication to the sport. It demonstrates our team's commitment and Coach Kraus's leadership to the pursuit of excellence in all that they do," said Associate Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Scott.

Coming off their final regular season meet at Tulane, the Argos are getting ready for the NSISC Championships in Cleveland, Miss., from Feb. 18-22 on the campus of conference rival Delta State. UWF is going for its eighth overall and sixth straight NSISC conference title.
