CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of West Florida Argonauts (14-8, 10-6 Gulf South) battled through four quarters but ultimately fell to Lee University (19-4, 13-4 Gulf South) by a final score of 67-52 on Saturday afternoon at Walker Arena.
West Florida started strong, taking a 16-14 lead at the end of the first quarter behind sharp shooting from Bella Green and Haidyn Pitsch. However, the Argos struggled offensively in the second period, managing just eight points as Lee's defense tightened. The Lady Flames capitalized on turnovers and fast-break opportunities to take a 29-24 advantage into halftime.
The second half saw Lee pull away, outscoring UWF 38-28 over the final two quarters. Haylee Johnson led the charge for the Lady Flames with a game-high 29 points.
Despite the loss, Bella Green paced the Argos with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Pitsch and Delaney Trushel contributed 10 points apiece.
The Argos return home on February 13 to face Mississippi College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
