PENSACOLA, Fla. – Seven runs scored late in the game lifted the University of West Florida baseball team over Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday, 10-4. The win gave the Argos the series sweep against the Trojans.
After Trevecca tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning the Argos responded right back with three runs of their own.
Gann Nobles started off the inning with a double and would later score with the bases loaded when
Brett Rowell grounded out on a fielder's choice. The Argos scored two more runs on the next at bat when
Jadon Fryman singled to right center field scoring
Parker Tubb and
Dom Presto.
In the eighth inning, UWF put the game away with four runs on four hits, highlighted by
Ethan Babcock's three-run homer to extend the lead, 10-4.
Jacob Heath went six innings allowing four hits and no runs while striking out five batters.
Trevecca Nazarene had 12 hits but left 10 runners on base. UWF had 11 hits and 10 RBIs.
UWF (13-8, 9-3 GSC) will travel next week for the first time in 18 games. The Argos will play at Alabama Huntsville for a three-game series starting on Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon.
