Argos Complete Sweep of West Alabama

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Argos completed the series sweep of West Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Jim Spooner Field. UWF won game one of the doubleheader, 9-4 and the second game, 3-0.

Cade Easterbrook had a four RBI game in the first game of the day. The senior gave the Argos the lead in the bottom of the first inning when his two-run homer to left center put UWF up 2-1.

Easterbrook then drove in two more runs in the third inning with a double to the centerfield fence to give the Argos a 4-1 advantage. Easterbrook then scored when Ben Maskin doubled.
In the sixth inning UWF hit six singles to score an additional four runs.

Kade Manderscheid got the start and win on the mound after going just over seven innings. He struck out seven batters and gave up just one run.

In the second game of the day, Jacob Heath threw a complete game shutout to earn his fourth win of the season. The right-hand pitcher tied his second-best effort this season in strikeouts with seven on the day.

Heath's pitching performance was crucial as the Argos only recorded four hits in the seven-inning contest.

Easterbrook continued his impressive day at the plate and singled to right field to drive in the first run in the first inning. In the fourth inning Easterbrook singled again and scored when the Tigers made a fielding error on Jadon Fryman's at bat.

Brantley Willis scored the third run of the game for UWF after stealing home on a misplayed ball by the UWA catcher.

The weekend sweep advanced the Argos to 18-9 in the Gulf South Conference and 26-15 overall this season. UWF currently sits in third place in the GSC standings behind Valdosta State and Delta State. West Florida will host Spring Hill for a solo game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. followed by a three-game weekend series against Mississippi College on Friday and Saturday.
