PENSACOLA, Fla. – In one of the odder scorecards you'll see, The UWF Argonauts (29-14, 20-10) defeated the Mississippi College Choctaws (31-15, 19-11) by a score of 4-3, and both teams scored all of the game's runs in the same inning.
Six of the game's seven innings were scoreless as Mississippi College jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third. UWF responded with four runs and the winning run in the bottom of the inning. Both teams were blanked the rest of the game, but the Argos held on to secure a 2-1 series win.
UWF claims second in the conference as of the second to last weekend of the regular season. They are behind Auburn Montgomery by three games and now ahead of Mississippi College by a game and a half.
Hannah Harper hit her team-leading 11
th double and added a walk.
Emma Brice also continued a great weekend with a 2-RBI single.
Haley Guffey is now second in the conference in wins after earning her 19
th of the year. She also added three strikeouts in the win.

The first inning and a half, every batter was retired in order. In the second, a couple walks put two on for UWF but a swinging strikeout ended the frame.
In the third, the fireworks began. The Choctaws drew a walk and four hits including a 2-RBI double and an RBI single. A groundout ended the inning leaving two on base, but the Argos found themselves down 0-3 early.
Without skipping a beat, UWF went to work, starting with Guerriero as the catalyst. The senior bunted to get on base, and then took second and third on a Discenza single. Moon scored Guerriero on a sacrifice flyout and Discenza scored on a
Nevaeh Hayes RBI single. Brice hit her RBI single and scored Hayes and Jennings to put UWF back up 4-3. A flyout left Brice on, but it proved to be all the Argos needed.
The Argos only allowed a couple more hits over the next few innings and advanced their own runners to third in two straight innings but couldn't add any insurance runs. In the bottom of the seventh, two straight singles with two outs from the Choctaws put runners at first and second, threatening to tie the game. A line drive to the middle was snagged by Guffey, getting a lineout for the third out and securing the 4-3 win and the series.
