TUNICA, Miss. – For the second straight year, the University of West Florida women's golf team are Gulf South Conference Champions. The win marks the 13th GSC title in program history.
The Argos finished with a team score of 923 (+59) over 54 holes to win by 12 strokes over second place finisher Montevallo. In the final round UWF was +14 over which was tied for the best round score of the entire tournament.
Millie Thompson led the way on Saturday with a 72 (E). Thompson had three birdies in the first nine holes of the day. The senior finished in third place overall to lead the Argos and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Samantha Schultz shot a 75 (+3) for her best round of the tournament and jumped up nine positions to finish in 13th place.
Alia Scotka was seven over in the third round and finished tied for fourth overall and was also named to the All-Tournament team.
Isabela Urruchua put together a consistent tournament and shot four over on Saturday for a final score of +18. She finished in eighth place.
Holland Davidson who played in the second and third rounds recorded a 79 (+7) in the final round.
UWF will advance to the NCAA South Region Championship on Mon. May 5 at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.
