TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 19 University of West Florida volleyball team secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Florida Southern on Friday afternoon inside the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. The Argonauts improved to 7-2 on the season with the win, taking sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, and 25-20.
West Florida's balanced offensive attack was led by
Emily Breazeale and
Liberty McLean, who each tallied 14 and 13 kills, respectively, combining for 28 of UWF's 58 kills on the day.
Kumara Flanagain added 13 kills of her own, swinging at a .276 clip to provide consistent production at the net. Setter
Gabi Moulton ran the offense efficiently with 48 assists and chipped in eight digs to pace the Argonaut attack.
On the defensive end, libero
Maddie Mire anchored the back row with a team-high 21 digs, while
Ana Colon contributed 16 digs and nine kills for a well-rounded performance. UWF's defensive effort limited Florida Southern to a .147 hitting percentage, forcing 41 errors across four sets. The Argonauts also out-dug the Moccasins 74-52, showcasing their strong floor defense
