Pensacola, Fla. - The University of West Florida men's soccer team fought to a hard-earned 2-2 draw in a Gulf South Conference game against Mississippi College on Sunday afternoon.
UWF struck first in the 36th minute when Manu Bernabeu found a goal early off the assist by Callum Edwards giving the Argonauts a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The opening goal was the product of sharp ball movement and pressure that had the Choctaws pinned in their own half for much of the first half.
Mississippi College scored two quick goals in the 53rd minute , taking a 2-1 lead in the second half.
However, the Argos regrouped and continued to dominate the attack. Their persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Jonas Grauer leveled the score with a goal, bringing the match to 2-2.
UWF maintained offensive pressure throughout the match, out shooting Mississippi College 10-5 in shots on goal.
With the draw, the Argo's record is now 3-1-2. The Argos will play their first home game of the season against Pensacola Christian College in a crosstown collision on September 30th at 6:00 p.m.
