MEMPHIS, TENN. – The No. 19 University of West Florida volleyball team continued its strong start to conference play with a dominant 3-0 sweep (25-12, 25-20, 25-12) over Christian Brothers on Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena. The Argonauts improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in Gulf South Conference play with their fourth straight victory.
West Florida's attack paved the way to victory, as four different players tallied at least seven kills.
Kumara Flanagain and
Reece Wright powered the front line with 10 kills apiece, with Flanagain hitting a blistering .667 efficiency.
Magdalena Vongkasemsiri added seven kills on a .500 clip, while
Aniston Cochran chipped in six kills and a .455 hitting percentage.
Setter
Gabi Moulton orchestrated the offense with 33 assists while adding eight digs and a service ace. Behind her, the Argonauts hit .304 as a team, including a .366 mark in the clinching third set.
Maddie Mire anchored the back row with 13 digs, and freshman
Ana Colon sparked the service game with a team-high four aces.
The Argos controlled the match from start to finish, never trailing in any set and outpacing the Buccaneers in kills (42-21), digs (45-33), and service aces (12-3).
The Argonauts will return home to face the University of Alabama in Huntsville at UWF Fieldhouse on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Live stats will be available at GoArgos.com.
