Volleyball Finishes SpringHill Suites Invitational 3-1

Pensacola, Fla. - The University of West Florida volleyball team defeated Northern Michigan (25-9, 25-16, 25-17) and Spring Hill (26-24, 25-15, 23-25, 25-19) on Saturday at UWF Field House to advance to 3-1 in 2025.

West Florida opened Saturday's action with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-17) sweep of Northern Michigan. The Argonauts set the tone early, using a 10-0 run in the opening set behind strong serving from Olivia Kelly, who tallied two aces during the stretch.

UWF carried that momentum into the second frame, racing out to a 5-0 lead and forcing the Wildcats into an early timeout. Northern Michigan settled in as the set progressed, but the Argonauts maintained control from start to finish.

Kaylin Johnson paced the offense with a team-high 10 kills on 18 attempts, while setter Gabi Moulton handed out 18 assists and Kelly added 12 more. Defensively, Maddie Mire and Moulton anchored the back row, each recording double-digit digs.

In their second match of the day, the Argonauts battled past a scrappy Spring Hill squad, earning a hard-fought 3-1 victory. The contest remained close throughout, with UWF controlling every frame except the third set.

Aniston Cochran powered the offense with a team-high 15 kills, while Emily Breazeale added 11 and Johnson chipped in nine. From the service line, Mire delivered a standout performance, landing four timely aces.

Though the Badgers held the edge at the net with more blocks, the Argonauts' back-row defense proved decisive. West Florida posted 70 digs as a team, five more than Spring Hill to secure the win and cap off a strong showing in the final match of the weekend.

West Florida will hit the road next week for the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver, Colorado. The Argos open play Friday, Sept. 12, against Ferris State at 11 a.m. CT before facing Regis at 7 p.m. Opponents and times for the remainder of the tournament will be announced later. Live stats will be available on GoArgos.com.
