PENSACOLA, Fla. – It was a day full of milestones for the University of West Florida women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon resulting in a 93-68 dominating win over Montevallo.
Head coach
Stephanie Lawrence Yelton reached a major milestone in her career and in UWF Basketball program history with her 239th win which ties for the most wins in UWF basketball history between both the men's and women's teams. Yelton is now tied with Don Hogan who coached between 1993 to 2009.

Amelia Bell eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in her collegiate career with a 24-point performance. Bell led the Argos in scoring and also pulled down 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. The O'Fallon, Ill. native went 10-for-15 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
The Argos didn't lose a single quarter to the Falcons and used a massive 17-0 run to begin the second half.
Isabel Grimes, who transferred to UWF from Montevallo kicked the second half off with an early 3-pointer to lead to offensive run. Grimes had her best game as an Argo with 23 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. The 17-point run gave UWF a 29-point lead in the game.
It wasn't just the offense clicking on Saturday as the Argos defense was relentless in their energy and trapping forcing the Falcons into 17 turnovers which led to 29 points in the game for UWF.
Avery O'Connor had a team-high eight steals which tied her for ninth all-time in program history for single game steals. O'Connor also chipped in 16 total points.
Freshman,
Kathryn Ford scored her first collegiate basket late in the fourth quarter of the milestone-heavy afternoon. Ford also grabbed a rebound.
With the win the Argos advanced to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in Gulf South Conference play. UWF is currently second in the conference standings.
Next up for the team is a road game next Thursday at West Alabama. With a win, Yelton will be in sole possession as the most winningest basketball coach in UWF history. Tip off is set for 5:30 pm on Thursday.
