PENSACOLA, Fla. - The UWF women's basketball team beat Delta State in a game winning shot by
Amelia Bell in overtime.
The Argos came in strong leading the whole first half wining by 14 points. This was fueled by the Argos winning the rebounding battle 43-30.
Amelia Bell and
Isabel Grimes led the Argos both with 13 points.
Amelia Bell put up another double-double with 14 rebounds on top of the 13 points.
The third quarter DSU found their momentum in the second half coming out the locker room scoring 18 in both quarters. Jariyah Williamson led the statesman with 15 points.
With 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter the statesman led by just one point. This all changed when when the ball found
Amelia Bell's hands. She was able to draw a foul and hit the free throw to tie the match to send the game into overtime.
In overtime the game was back and forth as the teams were trading buckets. With 14 seconds left in overtime the statesman led by one point. The Argos stayed calm and found
Amelia Bell once again for a strong layup in the paint with one second remaining.
The Argos will play next Sunday January 4th against Mississippi College at 2:00 p.m. for the Blue out game.
