PENSACOLA, Fla. - The UWF women's basketball team beat Mississippi College, 76-71 on Sunday afternoon for their third straight Gulf South Conference win and tenth win of the season.
It was a back and forth battle between the Argos and the Choctaws with the Argos coming on top three out of the four quarters by one to four points.
Isabel Grimes led the Argos with 17 points and three assists. The other Argo in double digits was
Jakeria Hawkins with 11 points.
The game went down into the last minutes. With 23 seconds left in the game, the Argos led by just two points. But Hawkins was able to find herself to the free throw line to knock down both free throws putting the Argos up four.
Under 14 seconds remained on the clock with the ball in the Choctaws hands. This all changed when Finely Kennedy came up with a big time steal for the Argos sealing the win for the night.
UWF will travel to Memphis Tennessee to play Christian Brothers next at 5 p.m. on Thursday January 8th.
