West Florida Falls in Overtime

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 103–100 overtime decision to Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon at The Complex. The Argonauts now sit at 17-5 overall, and 10-4 in GSC play.

Five Argos scored in double figures as the team shot 52.8 percent from the field, but it wasn't enough as Valdosta State pulled away late in overtime to secure the three-point victory in front of a large hometown crowd.

Aric Demings led the Argonauts with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including a perfect 6-for-6 marl from the charity stripe. Elijah Wyche logged 21 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, while Tim Hall Jr. recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds for his third straight double-double and sixth this season. Christian Monroe chipped in 11 points and seven boards, Shahar Lazar scored 11 and Christian Valarezo recorded 10 points off the bench to round out UWF's scoring effort.

UWF took a 41–39 lead into halftime and maintained control for much of the second half, building a double-digit advantage late as Demings and Wyche repeatedly attacked the paint. West Florida led by as many as 12 points in the final five minutes of regulation, but Valdosta State rallied to force overtime on a late three-pointer and win the matchup in the final stretch of the extra period.

The Argonauts return home on Thursday, February 5, where they will host Trevecca Nazarene for Jersey Night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Live stats and broadcast will be available on GoArgos.com.
