PENSACOLA, Fla. - The UWF Women's basketball team pulled out a triumphant win over Mississippi College 89-86 on Thursday evening.
The Argos set the tone and pace for the first half. Outscoring the Choctaws by 18 points. This was led by freshman starter
Annarose Tyre who led the team with 18 points and three steals.
The Argos had dominated the boards all night securing 30 to the Choctaws 23. This was led by
Amelia Bell who put up 10 boards.
The Choctaws found their momentum in the third quarter pulling ahead by 7 at the end of it.
The fourth quarter became a back and forth battle of runs. With two minutes and thirty seconds left in the game, the Choctaws led by eight points. For the rest of the game the Argos held the Choctaws to only one point. UWF was able to find multiple baskets led by Tyre who hit a big time three with 52 seconds left on the clock to put the Argos up 1 and then 2 free throws with 36 seconds left on the clock.
In addition to Tyre, four other Argos put up double digit scoring. Isabel Grims had 15,
Amelia Bell with 14,
Finley Kennedy with 12, and
Avery O'Connor with 10 points.
The Argos will play next Saturday February 14th at 2 p.m. in Cleveland Mississippi against Delta State.
