UWF Clinches Another Midweek Win Over GSW

PENSACOLA, Fla. — West Florida secured a commanding 10-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern State University on Wednesday at Jim Spooner Field. The Argonauts tallied 12 hits and took advantage of three Hurricane errors to clinch the win.

West Florida took the early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning. Zack Stokes singled, stole second, and eventually scored on Trent Kelly's two-RBI single up the middle. Kelly's hit also brought home Zack DeJesus, who had reached on a fielder's choice. An error by Georgia Southwestern State's catcher allowed William Lybrook to score, and Jed Jones singled to drive in the fourth run. The Argonauts led 4-0 after the first inning.

In the fourth inning, Alex Urias doubled and scored on Stokes' RBI single. Stokes later scored on a single by Gustavo Mendez, increasing the Argo lead to 6-0. UWF added three more runs in the fifth inning. Gann Nobles reached on an error and scored on Stokes' bases-loaded walk. Mendez followed with a two-RBI single, bringing in Alex Urias and Tanner Taylor.

In the sixth, West Florida scored another unearned run, with Nobles crossing the plate on a fielding error by the Hurricanes' second baseman. The Argonauts maintained their advantage, and the game concluded with a 10-0 victory over the Hurricanes.

Elijah Roberts opened the game for West Florida, pitching 2 innings without allowing a run and striking out one while yielding two hits. Christian Pencek followed with a strong 4-inning relief effort, striking out three and allowing just two hits to earn the win. Garrett Brewer contributed a scoreless inning, recording a strikeout and inducing a double play.
