TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 1 University of West Florida emerged victorious over the University of Montevallo with a final score of 4-2 in the 2026 GSC Championship. The Argonauts secured their win with singles victories at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 positions, propelling them to the semifinals of the GSC Tournament.

West Florida fell behind early as Montevallo claimed the doubles point. Montevallo secured victories at No. 3 doubles, where Simon Luigs and Guilherme Gracioli defeated Vicente Couto and Mateo Martinez, 6-1, followed by a win at No. 2 doubles, with Luiz Gobbi and Samuel Maia beating Rafael Sabio and Goncalo Quintela, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles match featuring the Argonauts' top-ranked Diego Duran and Sebastian Rondon against Leonidas Lazarides and Christian Bacher was left unfinished at 5-5.

In singles play, the Argonauts turned the tide with a commanding performance. Rafael Sabio, ranked No. 46, delivered a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Edgar Dufresne at No. 5 singles, putting them on the board. Mateo Martinez, ranked No. 72, followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Leonidas Lazarides at No. 4 singles, leveling the dual match score. Rondon, ranked No. 2, then put West Florida ahead with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Bacher at No. 1 singles.

The Argonauts clinched the match with Diego Duran's win at No. 2 singles, as the No. 3-ranked player defeated Maia, 6-2, 6-2. Despite Montevallo's win at No. 3 singles, with Guilherme Gracioli overcoming Vicente Couto, 6-2, 6-3, Quintela closed out the scoring with a 6-2, 6-4 result against Gobbi at No. 6 singles. UWF advanced with a 5-2 final score.
