TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The No. 1 University of West Florida men's tennis team punched its ticket to the 2026 GSC Championship match by defeating No. 17 Mississippi College 4-2 on Friday. The Argos secured four singles victories to advance to the final.

West Florida dropped the doubles point to Mississippi College to open the match. The No. 2 doubles match saw Mattia Ricci and Sergio Ramirez Ocana from Mississippi College take a 6-1 victory over Goncalo Quintela and Rafael Sabio. West Florida's Diego Duran and Sebastian Rondon, ranked No. 1, claimed a 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles against Mikayel Avanesyan and Joshua Hinton. The deciding point came at No. 3 doubles, where Charles Lefort and Matias Ruiz of Mississippi College secured a 7-6 win over Mark Neyelov and Samuel Vidales.

In singles, West Florida quickly turned the tables. At No. 1 singles, Sebastian Rondon, ranked No. 2, defeated Mattia Ricci 6-2, 6-4. Rafael Sabio, ranked No. 46, gave the Argos another point with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles against Mikayel Avanesyan. This momentum continued as Mateo Martinez faced Matias Ruiz at No. 3 singles but fell 6-3, 6-2, while Diego Duran, ranked No. 3, secured a three-set victory, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, over Simon Pfau at No. 2 singles.

Goncalo Quintela clinched the match for West Florida with a 6-4, 9-6, 7-6 win at No. 6 singles against Florian Walcher, pushing the team to a 4-1 lead. In the final singles match, Mark Neyelov competed in a three-set battle at No. 6 singles but was edged out by Sergio Ramirez Ocana, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6. The Argos emerged victorious with a final dual score of 4-2, advancing in the postseason.
