Maddie Mire Set Compete with USA D-2 Volleyball Team in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Senior Libero Maddie Mire is set to represent the UWF volleyball program internationally as part of the USA D-2 Volleyball Team Brazil Tour.

The tour, organized by USA Sports Tours & Events, will run from May 11-20 and features invited NCAA Division II women's volleyball players from across the country. The teams are made up of players who have been recognized nationally, regionally and by their respective conferences. Mire will compete as a member of the USA D-2 Volleyball Blue Team, which includes 10 players representing seven colleges and universities.

The team will begin with orientation in Orlando on May 11 before departing for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While in Brazil, the USA D-2 teams will practice at Barra Marina Clube in Barra Tijuca and compete against Brazilian teams throughout the week. The tour will also include the International Challenge on Saturday, May 16, where the USA teams are scheduled to play matches against Fluminense and Barra Mansa Volei Clube.

In addition to competition, the tour will provide athletes with educational, cultural and social experiences throughout Brazil. The team will participate in a youth clinic at Marina Barra Clube, hosted by Ripper Volei Clube as part of its social outreach project. The group will also have the opportunity to visit several landmarks in Rio de Janeiro, including Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach and Ipanema Beach.

Mire has been a key piece of West Florida's success, earning recognition as one of the top defensive players in the Argos' final season in the Gulf South Conference. Mire was named the GSC Libero of the Year and earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, AVCA All-South Region, D2CCA All-South Region First Team, and First Team All-GSC honors during the 2025-26 season. Along with her already decorated resume, Mire set the UWF single season digs record with 643 digs in her first season with the Argos.

She joins senior setter Gabi Moulton and UWF volleyball alum Taylor Vaneekeren as Argo participants on tour.
